ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience
to Work

I am Minnie Gupta and I hope you will select my name on the ballot on May 25th!

We moved to Holliston from California 11 years ago, and I promptly fell in love this quaint, friendly town. I am a Mom to two wonderful boys and two handsome dogs, wife to a super supportive husband, a businesswoman, a teacher, an educator, event organizer, a dance choreographer, a volunteer to many social causes and an eternal optimist at heart.

As a first generation immigrant, I lived in two countries, and moved across as many as nine States and seven school districts in USA. I have been fortunate to see and learn from my experiences as a teacher, a school volunteer, an educator and most important of all, a parent. I believe in equitable opportunities for all kids. While providing a wide range of support for kids in need is a must, I believe kids who are above average need a broader range of opportunities too so they can be nurtured as well. I support a robust socio-emotional setup for kids not just for the Pandemic fallout, but for all times. I believe effective and timely communication and collaboration is key to a cohesive team work that will ensure success. Affording parents easy access to information about resources is a subject close to my heart.

I have worn many different hats in my life, and each of them has taught me something truly valuable. Currently, I own and run an education enterprise called Kumon that specializes in providing enrichment as well as remedial opportunities in Math and English to all kids irrespective of their age. I also chair Mohi Parivar, a non profit group in Holliston that works to provide an ethnic platform to South Asian population in Holliston and surrounding towns (our annual Mohi Diwlai events are famous for their scintilating stage performances and mouthwatering food!! Do try it sometime once COVID is gone!!).

Being a teacher myself helps me understand the backbreaking work every one of our amazing teachers puts in. Being an event organizer leading a team of extraordinarily talented volunteers has given me a vast amount of experience to get things moving in sometimes very difficult situations in high pressure environment. Last, but not the least, being a business woman gives me a unique perspective at the negotiating table. I believe I can translate my unique experience into valuable contribution as a school committee member.
